The Problem We Set Out to Solve

Slide decks are one of the most efficient ways knowledge gets shared. A single well-made presentation can compress a semester topic, a conference talk or a company's hard-won lessons into twenty clear slides. SlideShare hosts an enormous number of them. But reading a deck in a browser and keeping it are two different things: downloads are often disabled, some files sit behind a sign-in, and nothing loads when the Wi-Fi does not.

PPT Downloader was created to close that gap. It is a single-purpose web tool at pptdownloader.io: paste the link of a public SlideShare presentation, confirm the preview, and save every slide as a PDF or a PowerPoint (PPTX) file. There is nothing to install, nothing to sign up for and nothing added to the author's slides.

Our Principles

A few simple rules shape every decision we make about the tool, from what it does to what it deliberately refuses to do.

How the Tool Works, in Plain English

When you press Fetch Slides, our server opens the public page of the presentation you linked. It reads the title and the number of slides, and finds the highest-quality image for each slide. You then see a cover thumbnail and a slide count so you can confirm you have the right deck.

When you choose a format, the server downloads the slide images in parallel — retrying any that are slow — and assembles them in the original order:

• PDF: one slide per page, each page matching the slide's natural shape. Great for reading, printing and annotation.
• PPTX: one slide image per widescreen (16:9) slide, centred and scaled without cropping. Great for presenting and rearranging.

The file is streamed to your browser and named after the presentation. We don't keep a copy. The only thing held briefly is the list of slide addresses for your link — about ten minutes in temporary memory — so downloading the second format doesn't repeat the lookup.

What PPT Downloader Won't Do

Honesty about limits saves everyone time. PPT Downloader does not open private or login-only presentations, does not try to get around any access control, and cannot bring back decks that have been deleted. Embedded video, audio and animations aren't part of the slide images, so they don't appear in your file. And because slides are images, the words inside the PPTX can't be retyped — the author is the right person to ask for an editable original.

PPT Downloader is an independent project. We have no connection to SlideShare, Scribd, LinkedIn or Microsoft and are not paid by any of them. Advertising on the site covers the running costs, which is why the tool stays free with no daily limits.
