How PPT Downloader respects creators and handles copyright notices

Respecting Creators

PPT Downloader values the work of teachers, speakers, researchers and companies who publish presentations, and we ask our users to value it too. We respond to proper notices of alleged copyright infringement in accordance with the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”) and comparable laws elsewhere.

What the Service Does — and Doesn't Do

  • PPT Downloader does not host, list, index or publish presentations. There is no catalogue or search on our site.
  • When a user submits a link, our server retrieves the slide images of that one public SlideShare presentation and returns them to that user as a PDF or PPTX.
  • Generated files are not stored. Temporary data about a link is cleared after about ten minutes.
  • The tool can't reach private, deleted or login-restricted presentations.

For Presentation Owners

Since we don't host content, the most complete way to stop public viewing and downloading is at the source: on SlideShare you can make a presentation private, turn off downloads or delete it. Once a deck is no longer public, PPT Downloader cannot retrieve it.

You can also ask us to block particular presentation URLs from being processed by our tool by sending a notice as set out below.

What a Valid Notice Must Contain

  1. Your physical or electronic signature, as the copyright owner or someone authorised to act for them.
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you say is infringed.
  3. The exact SlideShare URL or URLs concerned, plus any detail that helps us identify them.
  4. Your full name, postal address, phone number and email address.
  5. A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

Knowingly making false claims of infringement may create liability under Section 512(f) of the DMCA.

Use “DMCA Notice” as the subject so it reaches us quickly. We aim to acknowledge complete notices within two business days.

How We Respond

After reviewing a complete notice, we will, where appropriate, block the listed URL or URLs from being processed by PPT Downloader. Where we can identify a user connected with the request, we may pass on a copy of the notice, and we may share notices with organisations that document takedown requests.

Counter-Notices

If you believe a URL was blocked by mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice that includes:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • identification of the material and the URL where it appeared before being blocked;
  • a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was blocked in error;
  • your name, address and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate court and to accept service from the person who filed the original notice.

Repeat Infringement

Where appropriate, we will restrict access to the Service for users who repeatedly use it to infringe others' rights.
