When a download fails, the message on screen usually tells you exactly what went wrong — you just need to know how to read it. This guide lists every message PPT Downloader can show, explains the cause in plain language and gives the fix. Most problems take less than a minute to solve.
First, a Quick Self-Check
- Does the presentation open in an incognito window without logging in?
- Is the link for one presentation, not a profile or search page?
- Does it start with https://www.slideshare.net/ or another supported SlideShare address?
If any answer is “no”, fix that first — it solves the majority of failures.
Message: “Please provide a valid SlideShare URL”
Cause: the address isn't from a supported SlideShare domain. PPT Downloader accepts slideshare.net, www.slideshare.net and the pt, de, es and fr subdomains.
Fix:
- Change m.slideshare.net to www.slideshare.net.
- Replace shortened links with the full address copied from the browser.
- Remove any words that were copied along with the link.
Message: “Invalid SlideShare presentation URL”
Cause: the link goes to SlideShare's homepage rather than a presentation. Fix: open the specific deck and copy its own address.
Message: “Could not find slide images”
Cause: the page loaded but no public presentation was found. The deck may be private, deleted or restricted, or the link points to a profile, tag or search page.
Fix: confirm the deck opens in incognito mode. If it clearly does and the error persists after a minute, send us the link so we can check whether SlideShare has changed something.
Message: “Request timed out”
Cause: SlideShare took too long to respond. Fix: wait a few seconds and select Fetch Slides again. During busy periods, trying a little later usually works.
Message: “Connection error” or “Download error”
Cause: your browser couldn't finish talking to our server. Fix: check your connection, switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, pause VPNs or strict script blockers, refresh and try again.
Message: “Failed to download slide images”
Cause: the slide list was found but the images couldn't be retrieved, usually a brief problem on SlideShare's image servers. PPT Downloader already retries each image automatically. Fix: wait a minute, refresh, fetch the slides again and download.
No Message, but Something Seems Wrong
The button keeps spinning
Large decks take longer to build — up to a minute for 150 slides or more. Keep the tab in the foreground; phones may pause background tabs. After two minutes, refresh and retry.
The file downloaded but I can't find it

If you opened the page inside a social or messaging app, open it in a full browser — in-app browsers often block downloads.
The file opens but doesn't look right
- Soft or blurry slides: the original upload is low resolution.
- No video or animation: those aren't part of slide images.
- Text won't edit in PowerPoint: slides are images; see SlideShare to PPTX.
- File won't open at all: the download was probably interrupted. Delete it and download again.
